Majid Al Futtaim Retail
A franchise agreement allowed Majid Al Futtaim Retail to introduce the first hypermarket model to the region in 1995. Today, Majid Al Futtaim owns 100% of the Carrefour franchise in 38 markets across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
According to Global Powers of Retailing 2018 report by Deloitte, its turnover was 6501 US$M.
The client requested a functional and technical assessment of an ad-hoc solution they were developing in house and allowed them to enable picking, packing and tracking last-mile deliveries. Technically, the solution was very good to cover their needs at that moment but it wasn’t a scalable model capable to cover both future scenarios and developments required to enable detailed operations described before so, the client asked us to assess solutions available in the market.
We identified more than 400 Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) but, less than 20 had previous experience with picking and packing orders in store where having real time information about stock is a big challenge compared to operations run in a warehouse.
As a result of the assessment done considering specific requirements and asking for vendors real experience working in similar environments, 3 companies were invited to run a demo, the vendor with the best experience was selected.
Implementation and integration of selected solution was successfully completed in 2018 to pick and pack e-commerce orders for food and non-food in hypermarkets.
